PRIVATE LESSONS SKATING OR CLASSIC

Whether it be the classic technique or skating we are here to provide for all your needs: from learning the
basic skills necessary to enjoy a gentle ski outing to the quest for high level sporting performance.

- CLASSIC is the original technique; it’s like walking with the addition of a gliding movement. Both skis stay
parallel facing the direction of travel. This is the technique generally preferred by beginners as it is easier to
learn than skating and is a more natural movement.

- SKATING is more like roller or ice skating with a side to side movement. This technique is much more
demanding physically than classic but ultimately allows the skier to go faster.

CHILDREN'S GROUP LESSONS AGE 4 AND UP

In an area especially designed for them, introduce your children to skiing in a fun environment -
the instructors at ESI la Vattay will be delighted to help them take their first steps on skis, using
teaching methods specially adapted to help children learn whilst having fun, in a fun and safe
space in the heart of the countryside.

Every weekend 11am-1pm 

Classic or skating.

Every Wednesday 2:30pm-4:30pm.

Children from 4 to 10 years old - classic technique.

Skating is possible for those who already have a good technical and physical level.

ADULT GROUP LESSONS SKATING OR CLASSIC

Every sunday 11am-1pm classic or 2:30pm-4:30pm skating.

• Introduction to classic cross-country skiing:
A class for all those wanting to try cross-country skiing for the first time or who haven’t been on skis for a long while.
Learn how to glide, slow down, stop and turn, everything necessary to enjoy a ski outing independently and
improve ones fitness levels. Classic ski style.

• Introduction to Skating:
Already possessing the basic skills of the classic style, this class will enable you to develop in depth the techniques
necessary for skating. Train for a specific goal (for example the Transjurassienne or other races) or hone your
fitness levels for the summer season (all endurance sports, trail running, triathlon, cycling, etc.)

• Advanced Skating:
Having mastered the basic skills of skating, this class will enable you to continue to improve your technique.

The session comprises:
• Learning the different skating steps (one-step, two-step, combined-step and step turn)
• Fluidity of movement.
• Changing direction, slowing down.
• Adapting the different steps to the terrain.
• Improving balance and efficiency of movement.
• Personalised video to aid correction of technique.
• Learning waxing techniques (if of interest).

CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY COURSES FROM 4 YEARS OLD

In an area especially designed for them, introduce your children to cross-country skiing in a fun environment - the
instructors at ESI la Vattay will be delighted to help them take their first steps on skis using teaching methods
specially adapted to help children learn whilst having fun, in a fun and safe space in the heart of the countryside.
In case of lack of snow, we suggest switching ski lessons to orienteering, archery, hiking and hut building.

BIATHLON AGE 7 AND UP

Discover LASER biathlon with progression and competitions with family or friends.
Adults and children can take the same course.
Laser biathlon is a risk-free and fun activity as the rifles do not fire projectiles.

2 hours of activity

From 3 people and maximum 8 people.

PRICE: €37

In case of lack of snow, we suggest switching the activity to biathlon in trainers.

FAMILY LESSONS

Try a lesson with your young children and enjoy the joys of a family outing. Introduction to cross-country skiing for
all the family including how to ski with a pulka (a type of sled for young children).

NORDIC SKI TOURING

• Half-day outing: 55€ per person: Introduction to the sport – learn the basic skills necessary to ski independently.

Guided outings to discover the Jura mountains.

La Dole or the Monts Jura areas.

A good level of fitness is essential, similar to that necessary for hill-walking and snowshoeing.

• Full day outing*: 110€ per person: Discover the Jura mountains in winter on skis with your picnic in your backpack!

Open to all experienced skiers.

*Modifiable according to weather conditions. Prices for the low season, during high season prices are 65€ (half day) and 130€ (full day)

Minimum 3 people.

Meeting point: Chalet ESI La Vattay Ski School (unless obliged to change due to restrictions imposed by

SCHOOL OUTINGS

Discover a sense of wellbeing through the healthy sport of cross-country skiing:
Stimulation of learning a new skill, managing one's physical effort, adapting to the snow and the climate, increase
awareness of the natural environment.

Goals:
To encourage all the children in a class in this sport which is often only open to the most able.
Introduction to how to improve in sport: setting goals which can unlock sporting achievements.
Awareness of what is a healthy lifestyle.

Learn more about oneself, gain confidence in one's abilities, adapt to different environments.
Appreciation of the simple pleasures gained from the physical exertion of skiing.

Raising awareness of the professions of those who work in our resort: ski patrollers, groomers, first aiders...
Learning to feel the rhythm, the vibrations and the sounds of the mountain winter, to experience the season.

JURA TRAPPER - NEW COURSE! AGE 6 AND UP

Come and play animal detective and discover the treasures of La Vattay.
Children will learn to recognize the fauna and flora through treasure hunts.

Learn to build igloos, follow clues or decipher riddles to discover this remarkable and unique environment.
